Christmas Past

Santa is a sell-out, it's sad I know, but true.
I hear him selling cell phones, and diamond jewelry too.
He has commercials on the radio, and television as well.
He's even on the Internet, with even more to sell.
Where is the Santa of yester-year, the one we knew before?
I fear that Santa of today, is a salesman and nothing more.
Then again even Christmas, isn't what it used to be.
The birth of Jesus Christ is overshadowed by Christmas trees.
"He's the reason for the season.", or so they used to say.
Now it's all about the presents, at least it seems that way.
The birth of Jesus Christ was a gift from up above.
A gift that brought a message, the message was simply Love.
Love for one another, for your family, and your God.
If Love was all you got for Christmas, would that really be so bad?
It's found within each one of us, and doesn't cost a thing.
There is no greater treasure, with all the happiness that it brings.
So the next time you're out shopping, and don't know what to do,
Remember the greatest gift of all, is found inside of you.

Happy Holidays one and all!
