Have you thanked a soldier today?

You awoke this morning under a banner of freedom.
Living in a democracy. Enjoying certain inalienable rights.
Have you thanked a soldier today?

Your kids went to school where they are free to learn
the skills they need to become whatever they want to be.
Have you thanked a soldier today?

You are free to speak out, however you choose.
Those who defend this right may not agree with your opinions,
but still they fight for your right to say them.
Have you thanked a soldier today?

To often we take our freedom for granted.
Forgetting the price that was paid to obtain it,
and the cost we must pay to insure it.
We don't always agree with what our soldiers must do,
but they still deserve our respect. They have earned it!
Have you thanked a soldier today?

Our soldiers are men and women, husbands and wives,
friends and neighbors. They volunteered to defend our freedoms,
our way of life, and for that, I thank them.
Have you thanked a soldier today?
